The IDI was initially developed in the United States by Richard E. Zackrison, Ph.D. and is based heavily on research conducted by Dr. David W. Merrill and Dr. James Taylor . One of the primary purposes of Merrill and Taylor’s original research was to investigate the relationship between human behavioural or ”social” styles and effectiveness as a manager. Read more
The IDI measures and describes three dimensions of an individual’s interpersonal behavior. The first dimension, ”directiveness”, is assessed on a scale from ”seldom” to ”often” and is a measure of the degree to which an individual is perceived as striving to influence or have control over others.

An IDI-profiling packet consists of a self-assessment instrument and six assessment forms to be completed by Individuals chosen by the person to be profiled. All forms are completed via the internet and returned confidentially to Effectiveness Consultants.
